FUL New Governing Council Visits Kogi State Government

On Tuesday, the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) under the distinguished chairmanship of the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, was received by the Kogi State Government at the Government House in Lokoja, the State Capital.
 
The 4th Governing Council and members of the University Management were warmly received by the Executive Governor His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was ably represented by the Kogi State Head of Service, Mr. Elijah Adeiza Evinemi, among other top government officials.
 
In his remarks, Senator Ndoma-Egba thanked the State Government for creating an enabling environment for the University to pursue vigorously the vision of its founding fathers, while soliciting more collaboration and support, particularly in the areas of paying the long-overdue compensation to the host community whose lands were given to the Federal Government for the establishment of the University, as well as providing the land title documents to enable the fast-growing Institution to achieve its full potentials.
 
Responding, the Governor assured Senator Ndoma-Egba-led Governing Council of the State Government's commitment to education, promising to address the issues raised by the Pro-Chancellor. Also, he commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi for his remarkable achievements and the developmental projects he has attracted to FUL since his assumption of office despite the daunting challenges.
 
Speaking earlier, Professor Akinwumi, while giving a brief profile of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, said that the appointment of the Council Chairman was a welcome development, describing him as a round peg in a round hole. He reiterated that the University is truly blessed to have such a man of high integrity and impeccable character, with a sound sense of judgment, a wealth of experience, and outstanding pedigree, pilot the affairs of the highest decision-making body of the thirteen-year-old citadel of learning - the Governing Council.
