The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, has commiserated with the family of late Dr. Esther Olumide, a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, whose sudden demise occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 24, 2024 in a brief illness.

Professor Akinwumi, who led other Principal Officers and Faculty members on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Lokoja on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, expressed heartfelt sympathy over the loss. He described the late lecturer as one of the most honest, hardworking, and promising members of staff who newly joined the University. 

The Vice-Chancellor added that her sudden death was a huge loss to the entire University community as colleagues, staff, and students would miss her endearing personality greatly. While praying God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, the VC assured them of the University's support at this critical moment of grief.

Similarly, the Dean, Faculty of Arts, who presented a condolence letter to the deceased's husband during the visit, described Late Dr. Esther Olumide as "one of the finest staff of the Faculty, respectful, humble, hardworking, and dedicated to work with a kin sense of responsibility."

Also, the Registrar, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, represented by the Deputy Registrar (Human Resource), Mr. Vincent Ojo Ifedayo, led a prayer session during the sober and tear-filled moment spent with the deceased's family and relatives.

The burial service is scheduled to hold between Thursday 5th and Friday 6th December, 2024 as announced by the family.
